Anhydrous zinc chloride was dissolved in hydrochloric acid and slowly added n-propanol after mixing. After reflux reaction, the resulting chloropropane was steamed out. All chloropropane was evaporated at 115-120 ℃. Crude products were washed with industrial sulfuric acid, 10% sodium carbonate was washed with water, then washed with water, and then dried with calcium chloride for fractionation. The final product was obtained by collecting 44.6-47.5 ℃ fractions. In addition, chlorpropane could also be prepared by the reaction of n-propanol with phosphorus pentachloride.
